About Ellie Hipkin, curator of Flourish
Textile art saved my life.
It’s how I coped with unthinkable loss, and how I draw on the calming power of nature. After a decade working in fashion, this expressive and tactile art form is now at the heart of what I do.
I sell my embroidered paintings, prints, cushions, scarves and notebooks around the world, and have the enormous joy of passing on my favourite skills and techniques as a teacher, and as curator of Flourish Textile Art Hub.

Ellie, who is a very generous and approachable tutor, has guided me into finding my own personal inspiration using fabric mixed media. I would recommend her one off courses as well her Flourish membership to anyone wishing to venture into textile art as well those who are more established.
I’m only signed up for one more month, but it’s so addictive I think I need to sign up for longer…😊
I am really enjoying the Flourish membership. I am loving the tutorials which are guiding us each month and using the skills taught to expand how I approach my projects. Your videos each month guiding us through are easy to follow and there’s no pressure to complete by a set time so it’s easy for me to work around my job and other commitments. I love to see everyone else pictures too within the group.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the year, not only to complete the projects set each month but also to expand my knowledge and skills in mixed media, this membership has opened up so many ideas and possibilities for me. I have even joined our local open studio group and may open up my own workroom next year.

When I joined I was an absolute novice with painting. Trying new things with support makes a lot of difference. Following how other members approach the project is really interesting.
I definitely recommend Ellie Hipkin Artist membership. It's a great package. Monthly projects that have clearly explained steps with a number of videos. Access to her skills videos (I recommend working through them all). Monthly group zoom meetings that even if you can't attend at the time you can email and questions you want answers to. A building library of artist interviews, and finally a one to one zoom call with Ellie during your membership giving you the chance to chat in a relaxed encouraging atmosphere.
Ellie's Layered Botanicals Course was inspirational, each process was covered very clearly and with lots of enthusiasm.
A whole new world of textile art was opened up for me and I loved each process, I look at all botanicals very differently now and am always on the look out for ones that would make a good print.
I highly recommend this course, I loved it.
I took Ellie's Layered Botanical course. I really like learning with her. She has a great teaching style and I appreciate how she breaks steps down in easy to follow bites. She uses all of my loves--paper, fabric, paint, stamping, monoprinting, and stitching.

I have now completed the 12 month Flourish Course with Ellie Hipkin, which I have enjoyed very much. I love the way the course is structured, having a monthly project, with new techniques each month has been perfect for me. Not enough to feel overwhelmed but enough to build on when time permitted. My confidence with painting on fabric and free motion embroidery has grown, as well as other textile art techniques. The course had given me a strong foundation on which to develop my mixed media textile art in future.
I am very much enjoying Deborahs coastal layers and sea bird course. the tuition is easy to follow with step by step guide on a work sheet and video. the coastal layers fabric suggestions are fabulous and one can be very expressive with them. stitching the sea bird is amazing as one watches it come to life. Have loved both of Deborah's courses and would highly recommend them.
Just finished 12 months doing Ellie’s Flourish course. Only intended to do three months but enjoyed it so much didn’t want to stop
Apart from learning new techniques and trying materials I never would have thought of using, the main word to describe the course is FUN
Taught me to experiment with confidence to play with paint and materials and love the process
